(St. Francois County, MO) A woman from Desloge, 27 year old Emily M. Clifford, is dead after a traffic accident just after 1 am Sunday morning in St. Francois County. Highway Patrol reports show Clifford was driving east on Route K, east of Sickman Road, when she failed to negotiate a curve and ran off the right side of the road. Clifford overcorrected and the vehicle ran back across the westbound lanes. Clifford overcorrected again causing the vehicle to slide off the road and smash into several trees. Clifford was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 41 year old Jeremy K. Brooks, was seriously injured. Brooks was flown to Mercy Hospital at St. Louis. Clifford and Brooks were wearing their seat belts when the wreck took place.
