(Farmington, MO) As the coronavirus vaccines are being given to frontline health care workers and those in long term care facilities in Missouri, how long will it take before members of the public can get the shot to ward off the virus. Parkland Health Center's Dr. Scott Kirkley, says we won't beat the disease until the public can get vaccinations.
According to Kirkley those vaccinations would come over the next 4 to 5 months while the general public would not be given the vaccine until later. KLirkley explains this means the second quarter of 2021 is when officials expect to offer the vaccine to everyone. If you've recovered from COVID19 you should get vaccination. Kirkley says there are cases of those who have recovered being reinfected. He also says to continue following safety guidelines to slow the virus.
