(Park HIlls, MO) With spring here, and warmer weather, ticks are coming back and they can be a deadly carrier of disease. A Communicable Disease Nurse with the St. Francois County Health Center, Olivia Meek, says prevention is the best way to handle ticks.
Meek adds you can also use insect repellent. Any repellent of 20% deet is recommended. Ticks are responsible for Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and ehrlichiosis. Meek also recommends a tick check after you've been outside and remember,...they like to hide in dark places like the area under your arms and other folds of skin.
