(Park Hills, MO.) The use tax that's coming up on the ballot for Park Hills next Tuesday would place a 2.75% tax rate on certain purchases from out of state vendors. Park Hills City Administrator, Mark McFarland, says the tax is misunderstood. McFarland adds the tax only applies to purchases of over $2,000.
McFarland says the tax is also self reporting meaning the consumer would be responsible for collecting, reporting, and paying the tax. McFarland explains the one thing they want people to understand is that this is not an extra tax on personal purchases over the internet like DVD's, clothing, or other products for consumers. KFMO B104 News will have election night coverage next Tuesday evening beginning at 7 o'clock once the polls close on KFMO.
